Beginner's Guide to Pinterest

Have you thought about using Pinterest for your small business?
Beginner's guide to pinterest

Why should you have a Pinterest account?

Pinterest is a powerful platform for driving traffic and generating leads. I'm currently doing an advanced intensive Pinterest training by Hannah from the Digital Priestess (Hannah also has a podcast and free Facebook group you can join).

If you are new to Pinterest, or have never used the platform before then I can recommend starting with The Pinterest Protegé Course by Jessa Bellman, this is a great Beginner's guide to Pinterest.

Pinterest is one of the best platforms to be a part of if you a creative business. Other social media posts have a life of up to 24 hours, perhaps a week if you manage to hit on something that really resonates with people. Pinterest Pins have a much longer lifespan, some say up to four months and beyond. Pinterest users are also more likely to purchase than on any other platform. You should be pinning regularly but you can schedule your pins within the platform so you don't need to be remembering to go on there every day.

What are Pinterest users looking for?

Pinterest users are there to be inspired, they create boards for a variety of purposes from home renovations to make up, fashion to crafts. You can use the Pinterest search bar to map out your keywords and find what people are searching for. You can also use Google (tip: scroll down to the 'people also search for' options) for keyword research and a free keyword website is wordstream.com. Finding the right keywords for your products or web links is so important to ensure you are being seen by the right audience.

If you like data and analytics you can view your stats for each pin to see how it is performing and also know that you don't need a big following on Pinterest to show up in searches. Another great thing about Pinterest is that it isn't brand specific. People are usually searching for the name of a particular item or theme, not a brand name. So what are you waiting for? Start using Pinterest for your creative business and see where it takes you!
